Taunton injury lawyers shortlisted for national awards

Tue, 12/03/2019 - 14:28 -- Slee Blackwell

It was a sparkling night for Slee Blackwell’s Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence teams as they headed for the 2019 Personal Injury Awards ceremony in Manchester.

The Personal Injury Awards are a prestigious, nationwide award ceremony that recognise and celebrate the best of the sector. The awards aim to identify high standards of practice and inspire others to emulate the achievements of those firms and lawyers who have been shortlisted. The judging panel includes some eminent individuals, including Gordon Dalyell, the president of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Taunton and Somerset solicitors Slee Blackwell were shortlisted for three awards.

Elizabeth Duncan was shortlisted for Claimant Lawyer of the Year for her work in abuse law, stress at work calims and severe injury cases.

Oliver Thorne was shortlisted for Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year for his work representing the victims of medical negligence, including the very emotional and challenging area of injuries suffered by babies during birth.

Slee Blackwell's entire personal injury team was shortlisted for Claimant Team of the Year. This particularly recognised their achievements in the areas of abuse claims, criminal injuries cases and injuries caused by animals, such as dog attacks.

The ceremony took place at the Hilton Deansgate Hotel in Manchester where entertainment was provided by TV’s Ralf Little. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Slee Blackwell team to meet and mingle with others in this area of law to exchange experiences and recommendations.

It was an honour to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. Elizabeth Duncan said,

"I feel very privileged to have been shortlisted for this national award. I am passionate about the work I do and proud to be able to give people who have felt powerless and voiceless a means to fight back, whether they have survived sexual abuse or workplace bullying or suffered life changing injuries. I am touched and grateful to have my work recognised by the judging panel who shortlisted me. I am proud to work in such a wonderful team who all achieve so much every day for our clients."
